Hi Guys,
I’ve got a lot of names for future generations but I could always use more … especially for the harder letters like Q, X, Y etc
To that end, I’ve created this page so you can add your own suggestions … or book recommendations as this is a book-themed legacy. I’m doing my fair share of book recommendations so I thought I’d make this more interactive. If you want to suggest a book, I love Fantasy (adults and kids), Historical Fiction, Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy, General Comedy, Classics and Dystopian Fiction. I have quite an eclectic taste. I’m a library assistant and I often do story time and class visits, so don’t hesitate to recommend picture books and junior fiction as well 🙂
I’ve also compiled a list of the books that characters have come from/featured in my legacy so far for your enjoyment 🙂

Mercy Thompson is really good, tbh there’s already a lot of my faves here. What about Yasmine Galenorn or Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan?
I’ve started reading the Sherrilyn Kenyon books, and the others are on my list! I hope to get to them eventually! Of course, at the moment, I want to reread the Harry Potter books again 🙂

Ooh, you HAVE to include Diana Wynne Jones books. She’s Welsh and the best author ever (as far as I’m concerned) so she needs to be in the legacy! (Or her character’s names, anyway… xD)
I love my Welsh authors so thanks for the tip! I’ve never actually gotten around to trying one of her books. We did a display for her at work when she died last year … 😦 about that
D: NOOOOOOO! You must read her books! They’re brilliant! I’d recommend Howl’s Moving Castle as the absolute best (don’t watch the film… ugh…) and then probably ones like The Ogre Downstairs, the Chrestomanci series, Enchanted Glass… she’s a brilliant author, absolutely awesome.

Ben (m), Peter (m), Charlie (m), Sheila (f), Margaret (f), Tania (f) – The Declaration, a wonderful book about a world in which drugs that stop aging are created and having children is illegal, by Gemma Malley, first of two so far.
Patroclus (m), Peleus (m), Menelaus (m), Paris (m), Helen (f), Eleithyia (f), Thetis (f), Briseis (f) – The Song of Achilles, a story based on Greek mythology involving Gods but centered around the story of Achilles and his close companion Patroclus, by Madeline Miller.
Elphaba (f), Galinda (f), Fiyero (m), Boq (m), Nessarose (f), Shell (m), Liir (m), Nor (f), Candle (f), Raine (f) – The Wicked series, the first book is based before The Wizard of Oz and follows the wicked witch of the west from childhood to her death, the rest of the series (Son of a Witch, A Lion Amongst Men, and Out of Oz) by Gregory Maguire (some of his other books look great too, although I haven’t read them).
If you hadn’t already been done with the A generation then I’d have included Anna, Achilles and my favourite spelling of Aelphaba in the list, but sadly you have 😦

I’ve just discovered an A name (Atticus) that I absolutely love from the Druid Cronicles by Kevin Hearne, so I really wish I’d had another boy!

Have you heard of the Underland Chronicles? They’re by the same author who wrote the Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins. They’re every bit as good if not better! I’ve seriously reread the series about ten times!
It’s basically about a boy named Gregor and his baby sister falling down a grate in their apartment complex laundry room and landing in the Underland, an enormous underground world where there live giant rats, mice, cockroaches, bats, and spiders and loads of other things, and mostly all of them can speak English. But that’s not all! There’s also a whole kingdom of humans living down there in cities made of stone. They’re practically translucent and their eyes are purple from lack of sun, and they’re at war with the rats. I don’t want to give too much away, though, just know that it’s also just as intense in fighting scenes as the Hunger Games is. Have you read the Hunger Games?
Anyway, I knew you like books and I am DESPERATE to get more people in the know about this series because it’s SO GOOOOOD.
I’ve had a look for these in work as I work in a library, but they’re not published in the UK 😦
They are however, available via Kindle so I might download a sample to try the first one out. It sounds like a modern, urbanized version of Alice in Wonderland which is definitely something I’d be interested in!
Given your need for names that start with the harder letters, I’d recommend Yo-Yoji from “The Name Of This Book Is Secret.” The series is for children, but I still love it and recommend it to anyone who loves mystery, adventure, and/or fantasy. The story revolves around two children, Cass and Max-Earnest, who decide to investigate the death of a local magician. Yo-Yoji doesn’t show up until the second book in the series, but he’s my favorite character. I’m not sure if you’ll be interested in the series or not, but I thought I’d but my two-bits in. This legacy is awesome, keep up the good work 🙂

I was going through my bookshelf this morning and thought of a few more suggestions.
“The Man Who Loved Clowns” by June Rae Wood is a children’s book with lots of interesting names, such as Queenie, Delrita, Birdy, Tree, and Punky.
“The Tale of Despereaux” by Kate DiCamillo is a children’s fantasy book that also has some strange names: Despereaux, Roscuro, Miggery Sow, and Pea.
“Uglies” by Scott Westerfield is a dystopian novel. Some characters are Tally, Shay, David, and Paris.
“Beastly” by Alex Flinn is my favorite fantasy romance novel. Characters include Kyle, Lindy, Sloane, and Magda.
“Shiver” by Maggie Stiefvater is another fantasy romance novel. Some of its characters are Sam, Grace, Beck, and Shelby.
“Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares” by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan is a romantic comedy. Some names include Dash, Lily, Sofia, Boomer and Snarly Muppet (an IF name, possibly?).
Finally, “Let It Snow” by Maureen Johnson, Lauren Myracle, and John Green (best author ever) is another romantic comedy. I chose to include this one mostly because of the name Jubilee, but other names include Stuart, Tobin, JP, Duke, and Jeb.
I know, tons of suggestions, but I’m kind of a bookworm…

I have some name suggestions, but do you just want names from books? Because if you do, I’d probably fail because I don’t actually read books a whole lot, and I won’t waste your time with names you don’t want to use anyway. >_< Don't kill me even though I only read Sims stories. LOL.
This is a book themed blog, so my sims need to come from books. The pets will be coming from Mythology, so I would gladly accept suggestions for pet names.
Most films originate from books, so if you have a name that comes from a book to screen movie?

Quinn – Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman
Xavier – X-Men, Xander – Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Willow – Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Triss – Divergent
And I guess, I am reading (not very quickly, but not because it’s the author’s fault, I just read slow when it comes to books) Wizard’s First Rule, by Terry Goodkind, and it doesn’t start with a hard letter, but Kahlan is one of the names in it.

I love the name Kahlan and Terry Goodkind is on my must read list. Also, comics definitely count, as long as they were written before the movie … So I will probably be including Marvel characters 🙂

OHHHH!! I love this idea, I too love both Sims and books, I think I’m up too 300 novels on my kindle and that’s excluding my hard cover novels!! A lot of them are paranormal, romance and the mixture of the two 🙂
Once I get on my kindle, I’ll share a few with some pretty unusual and some normal names 🙂
